Oregon makes a stand for equal pay for all

From http://katu.com:

Oregon Governor Kate Brown signed into a law on June 1st a pay equity bill that supporters say will help even out what they call unfair gaps in pay between men and women. The law adds protections to ensure a worker’s past salary is not taken into account when applying for new jobs, and more protections for the LGBT community and the disabled. The governor praised the law as a bipartisan effort.

"That says Oregon stands loud and proud about ensuring our women, our people of color, our folks in the LGBTQ community, our folks in the disability community, that for equal work, we get paid equally,” she said. The law also encourages businesses to conduct pay equity studies to ensure they are paying workers who do the same jobs fairly across the board.”
